  • Old buildings in St. Elmo.
  • Inside an antique store in St. Elmo. Yes, there are a couple of stores.
  • You would be smiling like this fellow if you were in the town of Salida. It's really a quaint town of good restaurants, shops and art galleries.
  • Victoria Bar in Salida.
  • River rafting and conoeing is very popular on the Arkansas River, which flows through Salida.
  • I needed a fix of my $20 hair cut, but I didn't stop in.
  • The 365 foot tall smelter stack just outside of Salida. The smelting plant, active from about 1910 to 1920, is now abandoned.

  • The inevitable and predictable result of the very short ride on the back of a sheep. The cowboys surely got a laugh, but his momma us going to use a lot of Tide on his clothes.
  • Mountain goats on Mount Evans.
  • The top of Mt. Evans at over 14,000 feet. It is one of 54 "fourteeners" (peaks above 14,000 feet) in Colorado. The road you see here is the highest paved road in the US.
  • Downtown Georgetown, CO
  • Steam excursion train on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. You can ride the train then tour the Lebanon Mine - next slide.
  • Inside the Lebanon silver mine at Georgetown, CO. It is a constant 44 degrees inside the mine, which is next to, and extends under, I70.
  • The main street, which is unpaved, in Silver Plume, CO. Except for the modern cars and overhead wires, Silver Plume could easily be mistaken for a town right out of the late 19th century. Population as of 2010 was 170.
  • While it looks like you're going back 150 years, Silver Plume can easily be seen by travelers on I70. In fact, I70 almost cuts the town in half (it is just out of the frame to the left).
  • A home in Silver Plume.
  • Colorful fire hydrant and a fence made of discarded skis. Silver Plume, CO.
  • Street scene, Silver Plume.
